Parks and Recreation volunteers provide valuable services to the community by assisting in many events and programs in a variety of ways. Volunteers can participate on a regular basis or on occasion as desired.

Improvements to Wiche Park are in the works! In addition to the construction of our 2,100 square foot pavilion with restrooms and parking, a new playground has been installed. The picture above represents the first phase of a 5 phase build.

Phase 2 & 3 of our playground build is now complete.

City Landscaping and streetscape floral

The Department of Public Works/ Parks manages all city landscaping, lawn care and floral including our nationally recognized streetscape floral design which would not be possible without the help of our Shelby County Master Gardener's.

Visit our display(s) May through September. Hint: July & August are really impressive!
