Austin was born and raised in Shelby County and is a graduate of Martha Layne Collins High School. In 2019, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University – Idaho.

Austin works in healthcare philanthropy. He is currently the Director of Philanthropy for Baptist Health. He has previously worked at the Republican Party of Kentucky, Shelby County Fiscal Court, and served as an Executive Advisor in the Attorney General’s Office under Attorneys General Daniel Cameron and Russell Coleman.

Additionally, he serves as an executive committee member for the Shelby County Republican Party. He also previously served on the county board of elections. In 2022, Austin was named by the Sentinel-News as a “Leader Under 40” in Shelby County.

Austin is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He volunteers for his church in various capacities, including a mission trip to the Czech Republic and Slovakia from 2013-2015, where he became fluent in the Czech language.

His wife, Shelby, is a Simpsonville native. They have two wonderful boys together, Miles and Max.
